What is a CRS/GDS and what are they used for?
A Computer Reservation System (CRS) are computer systems, which link airlines and travel agents together. These systems are used in the booking process, and provide up to date availability for airline seat purchases. Global Distribution Systems (GDS) are CRS systems, which can cater for multiple airlines, hotels, and car reservations. Airline Courses Online offers the most popular CRS courses including Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan. These CRS systems are not available to the public. A Travel agent must subscribe to a CRS provider and complete specialist training. This is where we can help, by providing the specialist training. To work within the travel and tourism industry, learning a CRS is an absolute must. Travel agents or airlines, will expect you to know a least one CRS. These systems are also used by hotels and car hire companies. Learning a CRS will greatly improve your chances of finding employment. Which CRS course should I take?
Go to the course page, and select 'Industry Users' in the drop down menu. You should find the airline or travel agents you would like to work for. This will take you the correct CRS course. There are other courses available for more advanced users. Don't worry, please contact us if you are not sure and we will find the right course for you. Where will the training take place?
Most of our training is done online over the internet, so you can study in the comfort of your own home. The courses can be completed anywhere that has access to a computer and internet connection. You can use your local internet café or library. It is always a good idea to seek permission of the manager first. In order to start your course you require the following... A computer with Windows 98 or higher and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher and an internet connection with a minimum speed of 256 Kbps. A copy of Acrobat Reader. We will send you a link (which must be saved to the desktop just by clicking RUN twice and then OK) to the training system, and your free international CRS guide (PDF doc. not available in English) and a username and password. When you login using the username and password provided, a connection is made directly to the training software portal over your internet connection. No software to download or install once the icon is on your desktop. Is there any training material included with the courses?
Introductory workbooks are provided in English with any Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre Accelerator pack. They will be posted to you within the EU, free of charge. Airline Courses Online also provides by email as a PDF document, free International CRS guides in Polish, Czech and Hungarian languages to assist your training experience.
The Refresher, Comprehensive and Conversion packs have work books as an optional extra (Select the optional extras button the Airline Courses Online home page).
What is the Accelerator, Refresher ,Comprehensive & Conversion packs?
The Accelerator pack is for beginners. If you are new to CRS’s then this is ideal package for you. A workbook in English (Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre only) is included and a free* CRS international guide. Refresher pack this course has the same content as the Accelerator, but your given 25 hours to complete any modules you wish (no workbooks included but are available as an optional extra). A free* CRS international guide is available. Comprehensive pack is for anyone who has completed the Accelerator or Refresher pack, or anyone who wants to tackle the hardest course from the outset. This is the most advanced stages of the CRS and previous experience is strongly advised before starting this course (no work book included) *free CRS international guide available. Conversion pack these courses have been designed for experienced CRS user who would like to learn another CRS (no work book included) *free CRS international guide available. Travel Technology Essentials another course we run which will give you a full understanding of the industry. *free CRS international guide available in Polish, Czech and Hungarian languages only. What is the training schedule?
The online training system help facilities will be your guide through the course. While learning at your own pace, the system has the ability to save resume training at any time. Dependant on the course chosen, 40 hours of study time over an 8 week period will be allocated. If the course is not completed for whatever reason, additional hours can be purchased (optional extras button on the home page). What support is available?
Help facilities on the training system are excellent. If additional support is required on any course, please 'Contact Us' by email (English only) and the Airline Courses Online team will respond within 24 hours. Will I get a certificate?
Certificates are given at the end of the course, once you have passed the exam. The exam pass mark is 85%. Your certificate will be sent to the address given during registration. Will my new qualification be of the required industry standard?
All our courses follow the recommended GDS requirements. On completion you will have the necessary key skills required when applying for airline, travel agent; hotel and car hire reservation jobs. What is the price of courses?

Refunds are available. For every hour used, there is a £10 charge. All minutes are rounded up to the nearest hour. An administration fee of £40 is deductable for set up costs. If you have ordered an Accelerator course the workbook / guide is yours to keep but the P&P fee currently £5 will also be deducted. The minimum total refund charge is £55. Why are all the courses in English language?
All Computer Reservation Systems (CRS) are in English and is the international language of choice for all airlines. You should have an intermediate level of English language before attempting any of our courses. Our free international CRS guides are only there to assist you. |
